My Story

​

I started my career as an enthusiastic, passionate French and German teacher determined to change children's lives for the better.  After 10 years of telling pupils to tuck their shirts in and do their top buttons up I was burnt out.  Not from the overwhelming workload or constant demand piling up (although those were real) but from the exhaustion of working in an environment where I couldn't live by my values of kindness, empathy and compassion.  I was emotionally drained from working children and young people with low self-esteem and poor wellbeing being and feeling powerless to help them with anything other than conjugating verbs.

I got a new lease of life in my second career as youth worker and it was in multiple roles in this field that I truly learnt the power of supporting your own wellbeing.  I learnt that wellbeing is something we can all protect and develop and that we can all live fulfilled lives with positive self-esteem.  As soon as it clicked for me I became evangelical about it - I wanted everyone to know how they too could flourish. 

​

I have been a teacher, held various leadership positions in schools, and gone from youth worker to Deputy CEO of a large youth work charity.  At the heart of everything has been my desire to make a difference.  That's what A Solution Within is here for - so I can help you find your pathway to wellbeing that'll make a difference not just in your life but in the lives of those around you
